Welcome to Oak Tree Notebook!

You will find several aspects to this blog.
1. Oak Tree: Exploring ideas relevant to the convergence of motherhood, spirituality, meditation, and yoga.
2. Americanist Diversion: A platform to publish snippets of my professional research, covering environmental history and humanities, and the intersections of gender, race, and ethnicity.

I received a Ph.D. in American studies at Penn State Harrisburg, specializing in environmental history and the intersections of gender, race, and ethnicity. The culmination of my research is titled “American Identity, American Nostalgia: Using Images of Nature to Perform and Connect.”Sarah Ruth Wilson I also hold a B.A. in art history from Wilson College and therefore continue work in American art, particularly landscape painting.

I am a wife, mother, and yoga instructor-in-training. I write about meditation, yoga, and spirituality, centering on the journey with a recognition that all I can do is try to make myself a more loving and compassionate person.

It may seem strange to place academia and lifestyle in one blog, but I do so in an effort to work as a complete person. I approach my professional and personal life with the same commitment to truth. Please join me in the conversation.

I am glad you are here.
